Don’t Watch this at Work

pickup.jpg
My brother just released a new video today. It’s called The Pickup Artist, and it’s the best one yet. He and his friends put in a lot of work and it definitely paid off. WARNING: This video will definitely make you laugh!

Don’t You Wanna be on Top?

topmodel.jpg
I gotta say America’s Next Top Model is the most fun show out there!! What could be better than lovely ladies getting makeovers and having photo shoots with bits of catty drama interspersed? I started watching about a year ago when Mollie Sue, a fellow former-tampanian and Ybor city orpheum-goer, got onto the show. Jenny (the best friend) and I would cheer her on and weep with her as she rose and fell on cycle 5 (i think). When she was finally given the boot we had to console ourselves in the bosoms of the other gorgeous gals. We’ve been hooked ever since.

Jacob’s Ladder

jacobsladder.jpg
I just saw Jacob’s Ladder, a movie that i always assumed that i would like because of its intriguing name this movie, made in 1990, is probably one of the best i’ve ever seen. it’s incredible. you definitely have to give it some time, but once you do, i promise it’ll grab you and shake you in a way that no movie has ever done before and none will likely do again!

Baywatch

Baywatch
I know it’s been a while since I’ve written any entries. Sorry to all you readers out there! I’ve been doing a lot of work and watching a lot of one of my all time favorite shows, Baywatch. I got the DVDs recently, and though the songs are missing a certain something (especially the theme song - it’s missing entirely from the opener!), the wholesome storylines and good-looking nineties gals and guys are just as good today as ever. Check them out if you’re a fan!

Goodbye, Mr. Harper

harper.jpg

Yesterday, my hero, Mr. Charley Harper passed away. This talented animal artist was 84 years old and had enjoyed a very successful career as an illustrator. He’s known for his unique style; a beautiful blend of minimal realism and graphic abstraction.

Recently, Todd Oldham collaborated with Mr. Harper on a soon to be released book

Mr. Harper, you’ll be missed.

Charley Harper - My Hero

charley_harper.jpg
I just got some gorgeous Charley Harper prints. He’s my favorite artist! I’d like to thing our work has some similarities, but his delicate line and geometry are amazing. I think i’m in love with these prints.

Favorite Philadelphia Places

If you’re visiting Philadelphia as some friends of mine recently did (which forced me into thinking about this), you might want to check out the following:

1. JoMar Fabrics in North Philadelphia (Take the Eastbound Frankford EL line to the Tioga Stop and follow the JoMar sign on the huge building on I street)

This place is full to the brim with cheap fabric. The upholstery fabric is the best deal at $4.99 per yard.

2. Salsolito on South Street (602 South Street to be exact).

The very best burritos in the city. My personal fave is the Garbazos on the veggie menu.

3. Ikea on Columbus Ave.

Duh.

4. Govinda’s Gourmet to Go on South and Broad.

The best vegetarian cheesesteaks in the world. Get the Chicken Cheesesteak on Wheat bread. Please!!

5. Photo Process and Screen Supply on Berks Street in North Philly.

Take the Eastbound Frankford EL line to Berks St. Head about 4 blocks West and you’ll see a warehouse of Screen supplies. It’s awesome.

6. Gleaner’s Cafe in the Italian Market (9th and Christian)

My favorite hangout in the City.

7. Clark Park in West Philly.

A beautiful park in the West.

8. Rittenhouse Square on 19th and Walnut.

A center city must-visit.
