Ah, I love keeping track of money! I use (thanks to my wonderful accountant) Quickbooks for business stuff, Quicken for personal, and now Mint for both. It’s a cool new (and free!) web app that let’s you track your spending habits and even do a little budgeting. It’s also available as a free iPhone app. Cool!!

Just made this the other day and thought it turned out really well. I should really think about making these patterns as absolutely simple as possible. I think that prevents them from being too overwhelming.

Just found this cutie online at Saga Living. The pattern is called “Kulkue” and it’s really adorable. I also bought a little cushion case!

Inauguration Day

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

I’m watching our new President give his speech right now. He looked nervous coming out on the red carpet; I would be all in my head and I think he was too. It’s tough to know you have to give a speech. Brings me back to my school days waiting to give an oral report.

Here are the “looks” I’m going for with the bathroom and kitchen remodeling projects I’m starting in February. I found some great deals on tile on Washington Ave here in Philly. It pays to check out the contractor supply shops!

Hip Hop

hiphop
I recently took an Intro to Hip Hop class with two friends and it was really fun! We learned some really cute moves and I was excited to take some more classes asap. I went the other day to the Basic Hip Hop class (1 step harder than Intro) and struggled through the first hour, every few minutes looking at the mirror and getting a really red face. I was totally embarrassed! All stumbling around trying to follow along. Finally I looked behind me and noticed that there was a big window and people watching were laughing! I’m pretty sure they were laughing AT ME!! I would’ve laughed too. After that, I just couldn’t recover so I left. I’ll go back to the intro class where I belong!

Just discovered these tiles at Cuban Tropical Tile. They’re lovely. The history of these is really cool – they’ve been used for centuries and are enjoying a come back.

Kitchen Look Book

Monday, January 12th, 2009

I just bought a new house for a great deal in South Philly. The neighborhood is called “Newbold,” it’s right by the library on the West side of Broad between Morris and Moore. It’s so great, and one of the best parts is that I’ll get to redo the kitchen right away since it’s kind of a dump. Here’s what I’m planning…
